ESSO General Assembly, 25th September 2007, Barcelona
The European Society of Surgical Oncology holds its annual General Assembly meeting during ECCO 14 in Barcelona. On this occasion, the ESSO Board of Directors will present the 2006-2007 activities report, some information on the ESSO 2008 Congress and an overview of other future projects. ECCO 14, 23 – 27 September 2007, Barcelona, Spain
During ECCO 14, Professor Irving Taylor will receive the ESSO Award from the European Society of Surgical Oncology in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the treatment of colorectal cancer and colorectal liver metastases, for his continuous support to ESSO actions and for his incisive editorial activity.
The ESSO award session is scheduled on Tuesday 25th September from 9.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. It will be chaired by Professor Cornelis Van De Velde. Click here for a detailed session overview.

BIG information meeting : The Crucial Role of Surgeons in New Trials
23rd September 2007, Barcelona
During ECCO 14, BIG/TRANSBIG is organising a session that is aimed at providing insights into the new mechanism research in breast cancer and the crucial role of the surgeon in this respect. At this meeting key investigators of the recently launched MINDACT and ALTTO trials will present the details of the studies with a special focus on the role of the surgeon. Read more…
Surgeons attending this meeting will have the opportunity to raise any issues that they feel need clarification for the smooth conduct of these trials in their centres.

ESSO 2008 – 14th Congress of the European Society of Surgical Oncology
The 14th ESSO Congress will take place from 10 to 12 September in The Hague, The Netherlands. In addition to three keynote addresses, the programme includes important generic topics such as follow-up, the volume/outcome debate, dealing with a complete response, as well as important organ related topics, for example breast, colorectal, gastric, melanoma, sarcoma, etc. On this occasion, the meeting is being held with the Dutch Society of Surgical Oncology and with a major participation from the British Association of Surgical Oncology.
ESSO 2008 advance programme is due for release at the ECCO 14 conference.
