ESSO 2008, 11 – 13 September 2008, The Hague, The Netherlands
We are pleased to announce that the 14th Congress of the European Society of Surgical Oncology will take place in the delightful city of The Hague from 11 to 13 September 2008. Building on the success of ESSO 2006 in Venice, which gathered more than 900 delegates, the 2008 Congress will offer an educational programme of the highest standard.
The Dutch Surgical Society (NVCO), the British Association of Surgical Oncology (BASO), the European School of Oncology (ESO) and the American Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) will be closely involved in the organisation of the meeting.
The Hague has outstanding access, is ideally located and offers many cultural activities. The meeting will ensure a convivial social atmosphere and we urge you to place the dates in your diary.
The ESSO 2008 advance programme will be available in September 2007.

EBSQ examination, 27 September 2007, Barcelona
There is still room available for the examination session in surgical oncology organised jointly by the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) and the European Board of Surgery of the UEMS (EBS) during the ECCO 14 conference in Barcelona.
The deadline for receipt of applications has therefore been extended to 31 May 2007.

Elective Course in Oncology for Medical Students
6 – 17 August 2007, Poznan, Poland

The European Society of Surgical Oncology is co-ordinating the organisation of the 3rd elective course in oncology for medical students, an initiative of the Federation of European Cancer Societies (FECS).
The course is intended for medical students from the fourth year on from any university in Europe. The main purpose is to stimulate medical students to specialize in one of the oncology disciplines by providing them with an insight covering all aspects of oncology from both theoretical and practical perspectives.
The faculty gathers experienced teachers from the four partner universities in the project (University of Umea, University of Antwerp, Charité Berlin and Poznan University of Medical Sciences). One of these teachers is Professor Peter Naredi (Umea, Sweden), Past-chair and still active member of ESSO Education and Training Committee.
FECS offers selected applicants free registration to the course, free accommodation in a students’ home and a travel grant.
