ESSO 2008 – 14th Congress of the European Society of Surgical Oncology

ESSO is honoured to invite you to attend its 14th ESSO Congress that will take place from 10 to 12 September in The Hague, The Netherlands.

General information:
Over the 3 days, the conference will discuss different organ-related diseases. The programme includes a daily keynote lecture of common interest and symposia on important generic topics such as follow-up, the volume/outcome debate, how to deal with a complete response, as well as major organ-related topics. On the final day, we have an exciting educational programme including teaching lectures and a full spectrum of educational activities. A joint session with the American Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) will also contribute to this exciting programme.
The programme recognises the importance of a multidisciplinary approach towards cancer but also highlights the surgical aspects from a theoretical and a technical point of view. There is plenty of time for interactive communication and discussion, both formally and informally with key experts.
On this occasion, the meeting is being held in close co-operation with the Dutch Society of Surgical Oncology (NVCO) and the British Association of Surgical Oncology (BASO).
The social programme includes a welcome reception at the Municipal Museum and a Beach Party evening. The Hague is a delightful city, with many fascinating attractions and is in close proximity to the national airport Schiphol. Fellowship Grants:
The ESSO 2008 Scientific Committee has awarded 9 travel fellowships and 1 full fellowship to young surgeons from countries with limited resources to attend the Congress. Priority has been given to young surgeons whose abstract has been accepted for an oral or a poster presentation.
Best Posters:
The ESSO 2008 Scientific Committee will award three prize money of 500 EUR each to the best posters presented in the Hague. The prize will be conferred during the farewell address on Friday afternoon.
