ESSO 2008 – 14th Congress of the European Society of Surgical Oncology
ESSO is honoured to invite you to attend its 14th ESSO Congress that will take place from 10 to 12 September in The Hague, The Netherlands.

General information:
The meeting is being held with the Dutch Society of Surgical Oncology and with a major participation from the British Association of Surgical Oncology.
The programme will include three keynote addresses, important generic topics such as follow-up, the volume/outcome debate, dealing with a complete response, as well as important organ related topics, for example breast, colorectal, gastric, melanoma, sarcoma, etc. A joint session with the American Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) will also contribute to this exciting programme.

Call for Abstracts for Video Presentations:
Abstracts for Video Presentations should be submitted on-line, from 01 February 2008 to 24 April 2008, via the European CanCer Organisation website: www.ecco-org.eu
Additionally to this abstract a video of max. 10 minutes length is to be submitted on CD ROM and sent to ECCO, avenue E. Mounier, 83 - B-1200 Brussels – Belgium via mail. The Scientific Committee will make the selection of the 8 best videos and related abstracts to be presented as Video Presentations. By June, the first author will be notified with the results of the review and the scientific Committee’s decision on the submitted video.

Fellowship Grants:
The ESSO Board will award a number of fellowship grants to participants from countries with limited resources. Applications should submit a short CV and a letter explaining the benefit for them to attend the ESSO 2008 Congress. The application should be accompanied by a letter from the Head of Department stating that the applicant is not the recipient of any other financial support.
To meet the requirements to be considered for a fellowship grant the applicant should:

submit an abstract for ESSO 2008. Applicants whose abstracts have been accepted for oral or poster presentation will be considered first; Participants may apply for financial support even if no abstract is submitted, however, applicants who submitted abstracts will have priority;

be under the age of 40;
-
provide a letter of support from the Head of the Department/Organisation stating that the applicant is not the recipient of any other financial support, including a copy of the submitted abstract;

provide a two-page CV (including date of birth).
The deadline for receipt of applications is 24 April 2008 (abstract submission deadline). Please note that incomplete applications will not be considered.
Full fellowship will include:
-
Free registration to the meeting;
-
Free accommodation in one of the selected hotels (3 nights);

500 EUR travel grant - to meet the travel expenses. The 500 EUR will be paid after the Congress upon submission of receipts.
Fellowship grants for travel costs will cover costs up to a maximum of 500 EUR (will be paid after the congress upon submission of receipts).

The ESSO 2008 Scientific Committee will decide on the recipients of such fellowship grants. Successful applicants will be notified by end of May-June 2008.
