Call for Abstracts

Abstracts submission for the ESSO 2008 Congress (10-12 September, The Hague) opens on 1st February. Abstracts should be submitted on-line via the European CanCer Organisation website: www.ecco-org.eu.

Call for Abstracts for Video Presentations

The Scientific Programme will for the first time include video presentations. In addition to the abstract (to be submitted online like regular abstracts) a video of max. 10 minutes length is to be submitted on CD ROM and sent to ECCO, avenue E. Mounier, 83 - B-1200 Brussels – Belgium. The Scientific Committee will make a selection of the 8 best videos and related abstracts to be presented as Video Presentations. Flims Worshop on Methods in Clinical Cancer Research

21st - 27th June 2008, Flims, Switzerland

The European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) is pleased to support the participation of young surgeons in the 10th ECCO-AACR-ASCO Workshop on Methods in Clinical Cancer Research with up to 7 fellowships.

This one-week intensive residential training offers a unique opportunity for young oncology surgeons to learn the essentials of clinical trials and be in direct contact with experts in this specific area.

Interested young surgeons are invited to submit their application online from the ECCO website. The deadline for receipt of applications is 15 February 2008.

Successful candidates will get free registration and accommodation and will receive a travel grant for participation in the workshop.

Advanced Course on Improving Clinical Skills in Early Breast Cancer

23 – 25 May 2008, Ljubljana, Slovenia

Organised jointly by the European School of Oncology (ESO) and the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO), this three-day intensive course aims at facilitating the creation of a group of young European-minded senologists. The course will cover all aspects in the management of breast cancer. In addition, an essential part will be dedicated to promoting the importance of controlled randomised trials in clinical oncology, multidisciplinary management of breast units, and patients advocacy.

Participation is based on competitive applications. Free registration and accommodation will be offered to successful candidates.

EJSO moves to monthly publication

The Journal of Cancer Surgery, the Journal of ESSO and BASO, has increased its publication frequency to 12 issues per year to benefit from its latest development and success. Moreover, EJSO offers a brand new cover, more up to date and dynamic. Subscription to EJSO is included in the ESSO membership fee. See below information on how to become an ESSO member.

ESSO Membership 2008

The 2008 ESSO membership fee amounts to 120 euros (60 euros for trainees under 35 certified by a letter from the Head of their Department). It includes the subscription to EJSO and entitles to reduced rates for participation in ESSO designed and supported courses and in the biennial ESSO Congress (10-12 September 2008, The Hague, NL).
